Merry & Bright

I think this was a record for me..my sister-in-law gave me a photo of her gorgeous kids on Christmas Day and I had it scrapbooked and in the album on Boxing Day.

I don't scrap my photos chronologically (although I do store my layouts that way) so I will often be working with photos from many years ago. It does work well for me though when I am working with a kit as the layouts usually all end up in different annual albums. Of course, it wouldn't be a big deal if they were in the same album ..I would probably be the only one to notice the repeating papers.

Here is a little close-up of some of the embellishments on my layout. The shiny red circles are from the Thickers alphabet I have been using. They were too cute to waste so I sprinkled them little groups of three on the layout.

This was a fun layout to make mixing lots of different paper companies but all from the kit.

Gorgeous and free

I just wanted to share some links to some cute (and free) printables that I think would work well with this month's kit (be sure to click the links to take you to the downloadable versions).

First up we have this gorgeousness from The Scrap Shoppe.

Secondly how about these cuties from One Velvet Morning.

For all of you embarking on Project Life this year, One Velvet Morning has a great selection of free printables.

What is your go to place for lovely printables?? Have you found any great ones for Project Life or this months CKC? Please share in the comments if you have.

What's red, white and cuddly?

My sweet little Santa baby of course.

I love the texture in this layout in person.

I started with a Crate paper background sheet that I sprinkled with Glimmer Mist in Antique Brass for a little shimmer.

The next layer I used was (believe it or not) a tissue. Yes a tissue.

On our trip to Pokolbin and Cessnock before Christmas my mum, sister and I stumbled across a gorgeous little paper shop (the name escapes me at the moment). They had for sale little packs of tissues printed with the sweetest patterns. Of course I saw more than nose-blowing potential in these tissues and had to have the pack printed with music notes. They also had gorgeous notebooks, washi tape and some items from the K & Co Smash line. I could have browsed that little shop for hours but of course the children were less than keen for that idea.

But back to my layout, I layered various patterns from my Counterfeit Kit mainly using a cream and red theme. The "Santa" sticker came from an old sheet of Pebbles Inc label stickers.

Layers, layers, lots of lovely layers.

The only other non kit item on the layout is a scrap of scalloped lace. I wish I knew where I got that one from - it is sooo pretty.

Sprinkles and Sparkles

Look at those pretty sparkles -just makes me want to touch it.

As soon as I saw the branch in this month's inspiration kit I knew I would be dangling ornaments from it. After all it is a Christmas Kit - it would be a shame not to.

To dress up my branch I applied a layer of Shimmer paint from Stampin Up! While the paint was still wet I sprinkled a generous layer of chunky glitter in silver. Shimmery and sparkly -what's not to love.

Here is the finished layout using my Counterfeit Kit for January.

When I started using the kit I ended up swapping out the white Pebbles alphabet for some red shiny Thickers. They worked much better with the cream based papers and it was nice to see them used. They had been sitting in my stash unloved for far too long.

The only other extra item on this page is some aqua washi tape (this tape found its way on to quite a few layouts -let's call it my add-on).

Any questions about the layout feel free to leave a comment and I will answer as soon as I can.

Hope you are having fun with your kit this month too.

Candycane Kisses

Hi and welcome to the January Design Team blog hop, my very first as a Design Team member.

You should have arrived from Lisa H's blog. As always I love Lisa's take on the inspiration kit. If you have missed any of the design team you can always start back at the Counterfeit kit challenge blog and hop from the beginning.

This month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge we still have our jingle bells on and we are counterfeiting this gorgeous kit.

I loved the colours and general feel of this very Christmassy kit and if you think about it January is the perfect time for a Christmas kit as we have all those Chrissy photos to scrap.

My first step in creating my kit was to go to my christmas papers where I found an entire My Mind's Eye kit that I had purchased last year (12 Days of Christmas).

The pink, aqua, green and red colours were just what I was looking for and the kit also included a matching diecut sheet (bonus).

To this base I mixed in some older stash including papers from Stampin Up! (Green smallstar, Music Sheet, Emboss resist cardstock), Love Elsie (Hot Pink Ledger), Crate Paper (Aqua Diamonds and cream doily print), Kaisercraft (Blue with snowflakes and hot pink small snowflakes), 7 Gypsies (red script) and an unknown aqua damask paper. I also added in some kraft and embossed white cardstock.

I have include three sets of lettering:

1. Red and Pink Vinyl letters from Heidi Swapp
2. Green October Afternoon Mini Market stickers
3. White corrugated stickers from Pebbles.

My embellishments include:

1. 4 fabric brads from Basic Grey
2. A Maya Road chipboard branch
3. Heart stickpins
4. Bling
5.  Seambinding ribbon from Stampin Up! and a red and white twine.
6. Kraft banners (handcut from cardstock)
7. Various buttons

So there you have it my kit for January "Candycane Kisses".

Some of the other DT members found some fantastic printables as well to co-ordinate so don't be surprised to see those popping up in my projects too.

I will also be making my own version of the Pink Paislee resist stars throughout the month.

I can't wait to dig in to this kit and I hope you will join in the fun this month.

Your next stop on the Design Team blog hop is the fabulous Lynette.

I am a Master

Yes, I can finally announce it ....

I am a Master ......

No not a Scrapbooking Memories Master silly, a Master of Forgery

I am so excited to be joining the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Design Team for 2013.  They have a wonderfully diverse and talented team so no matter what your style you are bound to find some inspiration.

As I mentioned in a previous post I have a self-imposed scrapbook spending ban from January to June and my plan is to do some serious stash busting with my kits. I can't wait to start reinventing my old supplies. Yes those old papers shall be loved again.

I do hope you all come and play along at Counterfeit Kit Challenge.

Be sure to check back soon for our January kit reveal.

Happy Scrapping

2013 The Year of.....?

I have been thinking a lot lately about what my word for 2013 will be. I have several goals in mind for myself and my family over the next twelve  months including:

1. A six month scrapbook spending freeze. From January to the end of June all I am allowing myself to purchase (and only if I am completely out) is adhesive, neutral cardstock and page protectors. It is going to take some serious willpower but I certainly have enough supplies to keep me scrapping and I will think of it as a challenge to be creative with what I have. Don't we all enjoy a challenge??

2. Reducing the amount of scrap supplies I have and the amount of space they take up. I would like to see the amount of stamps I own at least halved so I will be selling some on ebay over the next few months. I am no longer a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and I think it is time to let some of my less loved stamps go. My scrap supplies and table currently take up a little over a third of our rumpus room and ideally it would be less than a quarter of the room. Definately time for some downsizing.

3. Cleaning out the clutter. We have been in our current home since 1999 and with four children you can imagine the amount of toys etc that have built up. It is time for a serious clean out. If we don't love it and use it, it needs to go elsewhere.

4.  Paying off some consumer debt and consolidating our finances.

5.  Being more active and cutting down on my weight.

All of these ideas have led me to my word for 2013

REDUCE

Yes, 2013 will be the year of reducing my waistline, my clutter, my scrap stash and my consumer debt. Easy huh!! Wellmaybe not but I will be checking in regularly with my progress on these goals so be sure to keep me accountable.

If you see a new paper on my scrap layout I better have a good explantion LOL.

What is your word for 2013??

Happy scrapping

Lisa
